Photographer Sues 2baba & Wife, Annie Idibia For N120m

A photographer, Mr. Emmanuel Okolo, has filed a N120m copyright infringement suit against musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2face now ‘2baba’, and wife, Annie.

The photographer sued the couple and one Mr. Anthonio Anifite before Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court in Lagos.

He alleged that the defendants made use of some photographs he took at the traditional wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Idibia in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 2013 without duly attributing the works to him or acknowledging him contrary to an alleged agreement.

The photographer, who sued alongside his company, Papilonmexy Films Studios Limited, claimed that the defendants wrote ‘2faceonline.com’ across 148 out of the 355 high-resolution photographs he took at the couple’s wedding and uploaded them on 2face’s official website, thereby denying him credit and referral opportunities.

He claimed that days after the wedding, Annie called him on the telephone requesting copies of the wedding photographs and that upon sending them to her, Annie complained about the watermark of Papilomenxy studios reflecting on them.

According to the photographer, Annie later sent the 2nd defendant to negotiate with the photographer on the terms that the photographs should be released without watermarks.

The photographer claimed to have then released 355 high-resolution photographs from the wedding to Anifite free of charge on the agreement that whenever and wherever they were used, the copyright would be credited to his company.

He, however, claimed that the defendants breached the terms of the signed agreement and went ahead to write ‘2faceonline.com’ across 148 of the photographs that they uploaded on 2face’s official website.

The photographer, who described himself as “a certified film maker from the prestigious London Film Academy” and an holder of a Masters of Arts degree from Cardiff School of Creative and Cultural Industries, South Wales, United Kingdom, claimed to have suffered general and exemplary damages for which he is seeking N120m compensation from 2face, Annie and Anifite.

But the defendants have not only urged Justice Idris to dismiss the photographer’s suit but they also filed a counterclaim wherein they demanded N150m damages from him and his studio.

They claimed that the photographer crashed into the venue of their traditional wedding, took pictures and circulated same for commercial gains without their permission.

They claimed that he was not invited but was just “one of the numerous photographers and pseudo-professionals and artisans, who invaded the venue of the ceremonies to eke out a living for themselves without prior consultation with or the consent of the celebrants.”

They claimed that soon after their wedding, they noticed some strange versions of their wedding pictures circulating online with Papilonmexy studio watermark and after painstaking findings, they traced them to the photographer.

They claimed that upon locating the photographer and expressing their displeasure, he pleaded with them while lamenting that he was hard hit by a downturn in the still photography business and sought any future engagement with them.

They claimed that the photographer forced the photographs on them, saying he wanted to leverage on their popularity to get referrals.

They, however, claimed that they told him categorically that the only condition on which they could accept the photographs was for him to remove the watermarks of his company, which he allegedly agreed to.”

NIMASA DG, Dakuku Peterside Escapes Assassination Rivers

Dr. Dakuku Peterside, has confirmed the incident, disclosing that he “narrowly escaped death this afternoon after his vehicle was attacked by gunmen in two utility vehicles on his way from the Port Harcourt International Airport.”

A statement signed by Sylvester Asoya, his Special Assistant on Media noted that
“Peterside who was in his car with Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, Rivers State All Progressives Congress, APC Chairman and Hon H.O. Asita, Deputy Governorship candidate of the APC in April 2015 election said they escaped the assassins bullets by a stroke of luck.

“Two Jeeps belonging to Emeka Woke, Nyesom Wike’s Chief of Staff carrying two unknown gunmen trailed us to UTC Junction and opened fire on my car. Our car however did a detour to the DSS office gate where we drove to seek refuge but the unknown gunmen opened fire again at the SSS men on guard.

“The exchange of fire between the DSS men and the assailants lasted for more than 30 minutes. This is a very ugly experience but I thank God that my colleagues and I escaped unhurt.

“Today’s experience is not only terrifying but also shows the parlous state of security in Rivers State. If I can be engaged openly by gunmen for nearly an hour in the heart of Port Harcourt, only God knows the fate that will befall members of our party and those sympathetic to our predicament. What is happening today in our dear state is not only horrible but also constitutes serious national security risk.”

Peterside who was Wike’s opponent in last year’s governorship election in Rivers State added that it was now evident that the governor wanted to kill him and that he was prepared to do everything possible to eliminate him.

The spirit of Pharaoh

The spirit of Pharaoh is a destiny terminator. Pharaoh was the one that gave instruction that all male children of the Israelites must die and baby Moses was going to be eliminated but for God’s intervention.

It is the spirit behind hardened enemies. Pharaoh’s heart was so hardened that the Lord had to bombard him with ten plagues, and even after the ten plagues, he still pursued the Israelites.

It is the strongman leading an evil army against the people of God. If you have dreamt of a crowd coming to fight against you, the leader of that crowd is the spirit of Pharaoh.

It represents enemies who want to re-capture us and bring us back to Egypt. By the grace of God, we have left Egypt. Whatsoever wants to grab a Christian and take him back to Egypt is the spirit of Pharaoh, and should be resisted with all the energy at his disposal.

It represents enemies that are insulting our God. You know when Moses went to Pharaoh and said, “Let my people go,” Pharaoh said, “Who is the Lord? I know not the Lord.” how ever,He knew the Lord when he got to the Red Sea. This is what will happen to your Pharaoh today, in the name of Jesus.

It represents enemies that employ sorcerers and magicians against us. They say, “Catch this person,” “spoil this marriage,” make this child dull,” “wreck this business” and so on and so forth.

It represents arrogant enemies that say, "I can do anything I want to do against you and there is nothing you can do about it.

The way out is that you have to review your past life with the help of the Holy Spirit. Review it so that your Pharaoh won’t have anything to stand upon. Have you consciously or otherwise entered into any evil covenant? Did you have sexual relationship with boyfriends or girlfriends who were possessed? Do you have a history of childhood sicknesses, and that anytime you fell ill you were taken to herbalists? Is yours like the story of a baby whom they said used to cry endlessly and so they threw her into the midst of termites for 24 hours and when they brought her out, she stopped crying, but from that time her life has been perpetually damaged? How were your parents looking after you when you were young? Have you been cursed by your parents? Have you ever gone to a diviner, a charmer, a white garment church or a herbalist, or eaten anything sacrificed unto idols? Ask yourself these questions. Carry out restitution of whatever does not belong to you but is in your possession. Anything that is not yours and you are sitting tight on it you had better release it so that Pharaoh will not continue to pursue you

Deal with the spirit of Pharaoh both in the heavenlies and in the water. Many people are working below their destiny, serving their enemies and drinking the waters of afflictions. Some have been converted to hewers of wood and drawers water. The pursuer ensures that such people do not move far with God. The foundational spirits are holding tight to so many lives. They want to work for God but the idol says, “Where are you going?” All kinds of things are asking them where they are going. They are being harassed and cheated. This is why you must pray with anger and aggression, with violence and holy madness, so that any Pharaoh in any area of your life shuold die. Your Pharaoh must die.

Building collapses in Lagos, one dead

Few days after 34 construction workers were killed in a building collapse in the Lekki area of Lagos metropolis, another occurred yesterday at the Mile 12 area, killing at least one person.

The collapse of the one-storey building comes on the heels of gradual return of economic activities in the area, as a result of the reopening of the popular Mile 12 market. The market had been shut for almost a month following a clash that led to the death of about eight persons.

The incident generated panic, as the balcony of the building, located at No. 9, Alli Close, came down in the early hours.According to eyewitnesses, the victim, a 47-year-old woman was on the balcony when it crashed and left her with severe injuries. She died on the way to the hospital.

The 16-room building had shown signs of distress before the incident.General Manager of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Michael Akindele, confirmed the collapse.

Akindele said while a full-scale investigation would be carried out by relevant government agencies, the occupants of the building have been evacuated and the place condoned off for safety reason.

The General Manager advised the public to report distressed buildings, impending collapse and other emergencies in the state for appropriate action. According to him, the task of ensuring a building collapse-free Lagos is the collective responsibility of every citizen.

Lagos State government, in response to the Lekki incident, had fired top officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and set up a five-man committee headed by Dr. Moses Olubunmi Ajayi, to examine the Urban and Regional Planning Law of the State, as it affects LASBCA operations, and make recommendations that will ensure effective service delivery. The state government also unveiled plans to carry out an audit of all structures in the metropolis.

Triumphant Entry of Jesus Christ

The triumphal entry is that of Jesus coming into Jerusalem on what we know asPalm Sunday, the Sunday before the crucifixion (John 12:112). The story of the triumphal entry is one of the few incidents in the life of Jesus which appears in all four Gospel accounts (Matthew 21:1-17Mark 11:1-11Luke 19:29-40John 12:12-19). Putting the four accounts together, it becomes clear that the triumphal entry was a significant event, not only to the people of Jesus’ day, but to Christians throughout history. We celebrate Palm Sunday to remember that momentous occasion.

On that day, Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the back of a borrowed donkey’s colt, one that had never been ridden before. The disciples spread their cloaks on the donkey for Jesus to sit on, and the multitudes came out to welcome Him, laying before Him their cloaks and the branches of palm trees. The people hailed and praised Him as the “King who comes in the name of the Lord” as He rode to the temple, where He taught the people, healed them, and drove out the money-changers and merchants who had made His Father’s house a “den of robbers” (Mark 11:17).

Jesus’ purpose in riding into Jerusalem was to make public His claim to be their Messiah and King of Israel in fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy. Matthew says that the King coming on the foal of a donkey was an exact fulfillment of Zechariah 9:9, “Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Jesus rides into His capital city as a conquering King and is hailed by the people as such, in the manner of the day. The streets of Jerusalem, the royal city, are open to Him, and like a king He ascends to His palace, not a temporal palace but the spiritual palace that is the temple, because His is a spiritual kingdom. He receives the worship and praise of the people because only He deserves it. No longer does He tell His disciples to be quiet about Him (Matthew 12:1616:20) but to shout His praises and worship Him openly. The spreading of cloaks was an act of homage for royalty (see 2 Kings 9:13). Jesus was openly declaring to the people that He was their King and the Messiah they had been waiting for.

Unfortunately, the praise the people lavished on Jesus was not because they recognized Him as their Savior from sin. They welcomed Him out of their desire for a messianic deliverer, someone who would lead them in a revolt against Rome. There were many who, though they did not believe in Christ as Savior, nevertheless hoped that perhaps He would be to them a great temporal deliverer. These are the ones who hailed Him as King with their many hosannas, recognizing Him as the Son of David who came in the name of the Lord. But when He failed in their expectations, when He refused to lead them in a massive revolt against the Roman occupiers, the crowds quickly turned on Him. Within just a few days, their hosannas would change to cries of “Crucify Him!” (Luke 23:20-21). Those who hailed Him as a hero would soon reject and abandon Him.

GOD WILL MAKE A WAY

God  made a way for the  Israelites. He made a way to get them out of Egypt, He made a way for them to cross the Red Sea, He made a way for them in the crossing of the wilderness, and He made a way for them to go into the promised land.

Just as He made a way for them, He will and can make a way for you and I. I am glad that the God we serve is a God of great power.

God is unchangeable, therefore, as He made a way for them, He can make a way no matter what the need is every generation that will look unto Him.

Housemaids, artisans to start paying tax in Lagos

The Lagos State Government has announced that it had widened its tax net to include housemaid and artisans.

The Chairman of the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Mr Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, made this disclosure at a news conference in Alausa on Tuesday.

He said that the new tax regime was in line with Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode administration’s inclusion of every resident to the growth of the state.

The LIRS boss noted that the agency had commenced the process of overhauling the informal sector with a view to ensuring voluntary compliance by all tax payers.

He said the agency had identified three categories of tax payers in the sector.

According to him, they include market men/women, artisans, micro, small and medium-scale enterprises and domestic staff.

He said these categories of people were expected to remit one per cent of what they earned to government’s coffers.

Ogunsanwo remarked that in addition to the traditional bank portal, new payment platforms, including POS, online and other electronics multi-modal system had been introduced to make it easier for residents to remit their taxes.

He said a review of the tax Form A of the Personal Income Tax Act had also been conducted. The chairman said the guide notes would be translated into pidgin and Yoruba for all to understand.

Don’t See How? God Will Make A Way

You may be facing a dead end right now — financial, emotional, or relational — but if you will trust God and keep on moving in faith, even when you don’t see a way, he will make a way.

It will become more understandable as you head down the path he sets before you, but understanding is not a requirement for you to start down the path.

Be patient. God knows what he’s doing. God knows what is best for you. He can see the end result. You can’t. All those problems, heartaches, difficulties and delays — all the things that make you ask “why” — will one day be clear in the light of God’s love.

But for now, we’re learning to trust God.

How teacher beheaded 10-year-old pupil because she provoked him

One Edet Umoren, a teacher in a private school who beheaded a 10-year-old pupil, Precious Adedeji, last Thursday in Ogun State, said he was provoked by the victim and the head teacher, who is the wife of the proprietor.

The 52-year-old indigene of Akwa Ibom State said he committed the crime because Adedeji and the head teacher made him angry by some uncomplimentary remarks they made.

The deceased, Adedeji, a pupil of Favour Nursery and Primary School in Esugbo, Itamerin, near Ijebu-Ife, in the Ijebu East Local Government Area of the state, was the granddaughter of the proprietor, Pastor Joseph Olutoye.

Umoren confessed before newsmen on Monday while being paraded at the headquarters of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS, Magbon, Abeokuta, along with six suspected kidnappers and a suspected Boko Haram member by the state Commissioner of Police, CP, Abdulmajid Ali.

The CP said the suspect, who ran away after committing the crime, was later arrested at Itamagiri in Ijebu Imusin.

Umoren was alleged to have also severed the right hand of Adedeji.

He allegedly attacked Adedeji, who was in company of her friend, Patricia.

They were said to be on their way back to the school when Umoren allegedly pounced on them. She was killed by the assailant a day after her 10th birthday.

Patricia, who escaped from the scene, was said to have run back to the school to inform the proprietor of the attack by “uncle Edet (Umoren).”

According to Umoren, “That morning, I held a cutlass which I used to cut canes in the bush to discipline pupils. The girl (Adedeji) and the head teacher saw me and made some remarks which provoked me; then I used the cutlass to behead her.”

“I never knew what came over me; it was when I had carried out the act that I regained my senses. I regret my action.”

Umoren, who said he was married with three children, stated that he had a pupil he was sponsoring in the school, adding that the school fees was deducted from his salary.

The suspect who had been in the employ of the school since 2011, explained that the proprietor owed him four years’ salary arrears, adding that his salary was N7, 000 per month and not N4, 000.

Umoren, who until the incident was the treasurer of the proprietor’s church, was also accused of allegedly stealing over N250, 000 from the church.

He said what he took from the church fund was about N50, 000, claiming it was part of the salary arrears being owed him.

The proprietor, Olutoye, expressed shock at Umoren’s action, saying the teacher left two notes at the scene of the crime, claiming that he committed the crime because of the failure of the proprietor to pay him his January and February salary.

South African gay singer, Koyo Bala, dies of anal cancer

Koyo Bala surrendered to a battle with cancer Monday morning at Groote Schuur hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.

Before he died the 36-year-old gay musician and socialite has confirmed that the anal cancer he was diagnosed with in 2012 has returned.

In the recent past Bala has staged a brave fight against cancer and had been diagnosed HIV positive.

Speaking to the publication, Bala said: “I went for chemotherapy for six weeks and a radiation programme two years ago, but the cancer came back severely.”

Bala, best known as a member of defunct gay trio 3Sum, in 2012 underwent an operation to remove piles.

He was, however, following tests told that he didn’t have piles, but cancer. He was at the time treated with radiation and chemotherapy for six weeks, but his doctors recently referred him to physicians at the Victoria Hospital in Cape Town, where he will have surgery in the coming weeks.

“I was referred to Cape Town to do the operation by doctors in Johannesburg. The doctors told me they were surprised [I had the cancer] because it is something that is more prevalent in women,” he explained.

Bala was diagnosed with cancer a few months after he publicly admitted that he was HIV positive, a period in which he also lost his mother to a stroke.

Speaking for the family longtime friend and housemate Ephraim “Ephymol” Molingoana told Sowetan Live that Bala always kept a positive outlook and remained strong throughout his illness.

“We are devastated and in state of disbelief,” he said. The flamboyant 37-year-old was a member of ‘bubblegum pop’ group 3Sum along with Jeff Moyo and Amstel Maboa.

Bala had hinted at a comeback to the music scene when he posted a picture in studio captioned “Let’s go back to the beat”.

Maboa is now the only remaining member of the group as Bala’s death follows that of Jeff Moyo who was laid to rest in 2010.

Empowered to Make a Difference

We are the salt of the earth and the light of the world. But what good is salt that no longer seasons, preserves, or purifies? What good is light that no longer emanates, illuminates, and reveals? Just as a computer that fails to compute and a blender that ceases to blend are worthless, so are salt and light that lose their influence. Yes, a savorless salt is still salt and an expired light is still light, but neither is of any practical use. Similarly, a believer unwilling to stand up for God and positively impact the lives of others is of limited utility. God does not extend his generosity to us with the intent that we would hoard blessings for our sole benefit. As we are conduits and not repositories for God’s blessings, we must be determined to direct God’s blessings bestowed on us to others. As salt and light, we are also called to be different, for one must be different before one can make a difference. It is clear that a proponent or component of the status quo cannot change the status quo. Christ must be the center of who we are and what we do. He must be embedded in every aspect of our lives. Let us no longer be perceived as Christians by name only. We must not compromise God’s Word. We must strive to be men and women of integrity. And we must allow real, demonstrative truths to emit from our lives, being mindful that God is making His appeal to the world through us.

What people think of God is often based on how we represent Him.

Represent your Father well and let them see Him for the awesome God He truly is. As we all know, children resemble their parents. God is looking for men, women, boys, and girls who will stand on godly principles, who are determined to let the work of good outwork the work of evil, and who are willing to confront the powers of evil and be about His business. Until someone is bold enough to say “For God I’ll live and for God I’ll die,” and is willing to work to effect change, our realities will remain the same. So you ask: what are the specific qualities required of God’s servants to make a difference in this world? I’m glad you asked. I find that five characters in God’s Word possessed five indispensable attributes that allowed them to excel in God’s service.

I leave you with two final questions. If our lifestyle were the only lifestyle that society could depend on to observe God’s unconditional love, would they be compelled to pursue a relationship with Him? If those who see our conduct, hear our conversation, and witness our character on a daily basis were placed on the witness stand to verify our commitment to the person and principles of the one we claim to serve, would there be enough evidence to convict us? Always be willing to go the extra mile for others. It is through our generosity and love that many eventually see the face of God. People should feel closer to God in your presence. So let us lead holy lives worthy of the calling we have received (Eph. 4:1).  Let us be His witnesses to the ends of the earth, being empowered by the indwelling of his Holy Spirit (Acts 1:8). And remember, wherever you go, don’t forget to sprinkle a few dashes of salt and shine a little light. We owe it to God, as we in fact are called and empowered to make a difference.

A Governor may Die Next – Says Pastor Who predicted Minister’s Death

In his new year predictions released in December 2015, Apostle Suleman stated that Nigeria would witness serious political developments.

He said some ministers would be absent from cabinet meetings in 2016 due to health related issues while some won’t return alive.

Expressing sadness on the death of Ocholi on Sunday, Suleman, reiterated his charge on Nigerians to pray ceaselessly for themselves and office holders.

“The apostle recieved the news with sadness and again stated that a governor may die next.

“He will speak to the public soon but for now, his condolence on Mr. James Ocholi’s death goes to the federal government, the people of Kogi, his friends, family, staff and others touched by the unfortunate incident,” Hamsat said.

God has the final say

There are times when we find ourselves in situations that are not convenient; we find ourselves in moment of sorrow, disappointments, discouragement and despair. Many of these times it is due to some utterances; some words of information; some words of facts; some words of reality. Thought bad situation is real, factual and visually clearly seen, but it is not final. Many at times these negative situations are diagnosed and revealed by very professional experienced expert; the main reason why the situation seems like it is final. But hear this; they do not have the Final Say; Jehovah Has the Final Say!!!

God has the Final Say Because He is God.

God has the Final Say because the word of the lord is Final.

Because God created the whole world and its fullness thereof.

God’s Power is the Ultimate Power that swallows all other Powers.

God has the Power to Do & Undo.

God has the Power over every Creation.

God Has the Power TO Rule & Overrule.

The Disease you have is a Killer one that has no cure (Facts) BUT God has the Power to make diseases disappear (Truth).

You may have no helper or godfather cure (Facts) BUT God has the power to intervene and raise a voice on your behalf. (Truth).

You might not have any hope on where to get your next meal (Facts) BUT God can make provision from nothing. (Truth).

Even though, the doctors says there is no womb for a baby; (Facts) BUT God  can bring a baby without the need of the womb. (Truth).

Even though you have passed menopause and think there is no hope for children; (Facts) BUT God can bring forth triplets from aged body. (Truth).

Even though you did not go to school; (Facts) BUT God can make you an employer of graduates & professors. (Truth).

Even though you have been written off by people that you cannot be someone in life because of your background & present status; (Facts)) BUT God that has the final say can make you to rewrite Your family history. (Truth).

God bless all Women.

Mothers' Day is a beautiful time to remember and celebrate the woman who have given birth, nurtured their children, and left a profound legacy of Christlikeness. You might not preach a whole sermon about motherhood, but at some point in the service pastors need to lift up and honor motherhood.

And yet, this day isn't always that simple. It's a day of joy, but for some it's also a day of pain. It's a day of celebration, but for some it's also a day of longing and grief. Some women and their husbands are yearning to have their first child. Some women had bad mothers. Some good moms are grieving a wayward child. Some women need encouragement in their role as a spiritual mother to people in your church and community.

But my prayer today is that everyone who is going through any situation that brings about sadness or bad memories on this special day, My God in his infinite mercies, the God who created the heavens and earth in just Six days, the God who has said we should ask and we would receive, the ocean divider, the rock of ages, would turn every sadness in their lives to Joy, Happiness and give them everlasting peace. Believe in the God who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than what we ask or even think of. Happy mothers day and God bless all Women.
