French police 'arrest man with guns in suitcase' outside Disneyland


A man carrying two handguns, ammunition and a Koran was arrested on Thursday at a hotel in DisneylandParis, police sources said.

The man was "detected upon his arrival at the Disneyland hotel where he had a reservation".

He was arrested at around 2pm at theHotel New York in Disneyland, according to BFM TV, after passing through the security portal of the hotel, which sounded the alarm.

He had booked a room for two and staff said they saw him with a woman who vanished when he was seized.

One woman, who was accompanying him, is "at large" according to Le Parisien. He is thought to live in Paris.

Disneyland Paris is among France's most visited tourist attractions. According to the Hotel New York's website, it offers spacious rooms and a pool at a New York-style 4-stars venue, situated "just a few steps from Disney Village and a short ride from the Parks by free shuttle".

The hotel has a deal exclusive to a string of Disneyland hotels in which "you can even enjoy up to 2 Extra Magic Hours in parts of Disneyland® Park on certain days".
